Villa Costafredda
Charming holiday home, surrounded by green hills and vineyards, a short distance from Verona.
The History
Villa Costafredda, the home of great historical value dating back to the SEVENTEENTH century, was first a convent. Later it was purchased by the noble family of the Maffei Faccioli, whose descendants throughout the centuries have always maintained the property. Some documents testify that the family lived in the Villa since 1653.
Originally, the villa was composed of a small main building and a side wing, flanked by outbuildings of the workers, and which extends for the entire length of the courtyard, about 40 feet, and ended with a chapel. In 1933, for reasons of static, which was demolished almost entirely the wing was joined in the courtyard, and with it the chapel.
The villa included on the first floor six rooms of the old house; on the second floor were the home of the farmer and the barn; the ground-floor storerooms, stables, and cellars.
Particularly important is the upper part of the façade, where stands the coat of arms of the family. All the windows are framed on the top and are adorned with a precious motif baroque.
